Delightful PS4 Adventure Knights and Bikes Optioned for Animated TV Series
Tuesday, 17 September 2019 12:30

High five.

We're pretty big fans of Knights and Bikes here at Push Square Towers. It's effortlessly adorable, tells a heartwarming tale, and provides a rollicking adventure for kids big and small. In fact, the island setting of Penfurzy has allowed for not just a video game. Before the game was even released, two books were spawned, continuing Nessa and Demelza's shenanigans in another medium. It doesn't end there, either, as Knights and Bikes could well be appearing on your TV screens too.

It's been optioned for an animated series by Tiger Aspect Productions. Essentially this means that the company has bought the rights to produce a television adaptation of the IP, meaning a series could still be a while off yet. Still, a Knights and Bikes TV show is a brilliant idea; it has a great art style and a whimsical cast of characters that seem perfect for a series.

Review: eFootball PES 2020 - Same Shirt, Different Name
Tuesday, 17 September 2019 14:00

If it ain't broke, don't match-fix it.

Just when you thought PES was getting old and stale, it gets a new name. That’s right, for a franchise that began as International Superstar Soccer, changed to Pro Evolution Soccer, and sporadically adopted and rejected the name of Winning Eleven, Konami has decided 2020 will mark the new era of eFootball PES 2020.

It sounds like it could be the name of a hacker-inspired football version of Space Jam, perhaps themed around Zinedine Zidane getting sucked into a computer world while budget Kraftwerk plays. Sadly, eFootball PES 2020 is not that film, but instead a perfectly fun football sim that hasn’t been altered as much as the name change would have you believe.

The Last of Us 2 Will Make an Appearance at Madrid Games Week 2019
Tuesday, 17 September 2019 14:15

The plot thickens.

The word is that we’re due a big blowout on The Last of Us: Part II imminently, and that may be further evidenced by the hotly anticipated sequel’s appearance at Madrid Games Week 2019 next month. The show – which is set to run in the Spanish capital from 3rd October through 6th October – will boast a beefy PlayStation booth, where Naughty Dog’s latest will be on display.

While the sophomore survival horror is unlikely to be playable, it’s mentioned in the same paragraph as Death Stranding, which is getting a theatre demo at the show. Our guess is that whatever media comes out of Sony’s upcoming showcase for Ellie’s return will be repurposed at the España-based event.

Feature: PS5 Remasters and Remakes We Want
Tuesday, 17 September 2019 14:30

Bringing back the classics.

Next year's PlayStation 5 is going to be fully backwards compatible with all physical and digital PS4 games, and so drawing up an extensive list of remasters and remakes we'd like to see on the next generation console isn't such an easy task anymore. Everything from the current generation should play on the PS5 without any trouble, so we can't envision developers putting quite as much stock in their back catalogues as they did during the entirety of the PS3 era and the early years of the PS4. Nevertheless, we're going to take a crack at highlighting the games we think would benefit most from a remaster or even a remake on the PS5.

Borderlands 3 Causes Uproar Amongst Longtime Fans with the Lack of Vertical Split-Screen Co-Op
Tuesday, 17 September 2019 14:45

No plans to add the option.

While many of us will experience Borderlands 3 alone, for some it has been the quintessential co-operative undertaking. Many committed fans of the franchise were indeed looking forward to playing the latest instalment with friends by their side in the same room, but that excitement has been thwarted somewhat by the complete lack of vertical split-screen co-op.

Borderlands, Borderlands 2, and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel all provided the option of a co-op experience that slices the TV vertically, with Borderlands 3 being the first to buck that trend. It only allows you to split the television horizontally, and longtime fans aren't happy about the change. Just take a quick scroll through the game's Reddit page and you'll find numerous complaints about the decision and pleas for the developer to make the switch back to vertical. Many users have even reported being unable to see subtitles at the bottom of the screen because of it.

Sunset Overdrive Is Owned by PlayStation, Sony Confirms
Tuesday, 17 September 2019 15:00

Xbox One exclusive now PlayStation property.

As previously expected, Sony now owns the Sunset Overdrive brand. Despite the game first launching as an Xbox One exclusive, Insomniac Games famously retained the rights to the intellectual property. PlayStation has since purchased the Marvel’s Spider-Man and Ratchet & Clank developer, but Worldwide Studios chairman Shawn Layden said he’d need to “turn over the files” for the full story.

Speaking with Japanese publication Inside Games, the ever-affable Shuhei Yoshida has confirmed that the Japanese giant does now own the Microsoft published title. “SIE holds the rights to past Insomniac Games works,” he admitted. So what are the chances of a port, then? “I am looking forward to future titles.”
